BMJ is a global healthcare knowledge provider with a vision for a healthier world. As a producer of clinical decision support tools, educational resources, events, and careers services, and publisher of 65 scientific journals, including The BMJ, the organisation empowers health professionals to make better evidence-based decisions and improve patient outcomes.
With a mission to advance healthcare worldwide by sharing knowledge and expertise, BMJ Group required a website that not only reflected their prestige but also offered an intuitive, user-friendly experience.

Discovery and Planning: We began with an in-depth discovery phase, understanding BMJ Group’s goals, audience, and content requirements. This stage involved stakeholder interviews, audience research, and a comprehensive audit of the existing site.
Design. Our design team crafted a modern, clean aesthetic that conveys the organisation’s authority and reliability. We focused on a layout that highlights key content areas, making it easy for users to find the information they need.
Development. Using the latest web technologies, our developers built a responsive site that performs well on all devices. We integrated a powerful content management system that allows the team to easily update and manage the site’s extensive content library.
SEO and Performance Optimisation. We implemented best practices in SEO to ensure high visibility in search engine results. The site was also optimised for fast load times, providing a smooth user experience.
Media Hub Creation. A dedicated Media Hub was created to centralise BMJ Group’s latest press releases, award wins, corporate announcements, and more. This section was designed to be easily navigable and regularly updated, serving as a key resource for journalists, stakeholders, and the public.
Librarian Hub Development. We developed a specialised Librarian Hub to support librarians and medical staff worldwide. This section provides access to information, help guides, and brand assets for BMJ products, tailored to different regions and available in multiple languages. It serves as a comprehensive resource for those who manage and disseminate BMJ Group’’s wealth of medical information and tools.
Impact Report Digitalisation. Recognising the importance of BMJ Group’s annual Impact Report, traditionally presented as a PDF flipping book, we recreated this report as an online entity within the website. This allows users to navigate the report seamlessly, enhancing accessibility and engagement. The Impact Report section, one of the most viewed areas based on Google Analytics, now offers a more integrated and user-friendly experience.
Jobs Feed Integration. To provide users with up-to-date career opportunities, we integrated a jobs feed directly into the website. This feature saves time and ensures that users have access to the latest job postings without leaving the BMJ Group site.
Latest News Posts Integration. We also integrated the latest news posts from The BMJ Journal website, allowing users to stay informed about current medical research, news, and updates. This integration delivers real-time information and enhances the website’s value as a comprehensive resource for healthcare professionals.
Events Calendar. To keep users informed about upcoming conferences, webinars, and other events, we developed an events calendar. This feature helps users easily find and register for events, ensuring they stay engaged with BMJ Group’s activities and initiatives.
Accessibility Compliance. Throughout the design and development process, we adhered to accessibility standards to ensure the website is inclusive for all users. We implemented features such as alt text for images, keyboard navigability, and screen reader compatibility, ensuring the site meets WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) compliance.
Testing and Launch. Rigorous testing was conducted to ensure the site’s functionality across different browsers and devices. After thorough quality assurance, the new BMJ Group website was launched seamlessly.
