Both Envious Digital and myself are winning from my learning!
It’s never too late to upskill. As an Envious Digital employee, I was offered the chance last year to complete a qualification in Digital Marketing. As I am at the halfway point, I thought it would be good to share my experience. As a woman in my mid 40’s I think it is important to highlight that it’s never too late to learn new things or brush up on skills you may already have.
When I needed to start the first module there was a bit of screen staring and trying to get the brain into learning again. Once I did though, it began to flow easily and I really started to enjoy it. Now I am well into the swing of things and looking forward to the upcoming modules.
With the work I am doing, we are starting to see results. We have a higher following on our social media platforms with more people interacting with us. Our website is under constant review for SEO and identifying anything that may be slowing it down. We have also started to generate leads organically without the need for a lead generator.
Yesterday I had to sit an exam (I know, I think I was actually 16 the last time I did one). It was pretty daunting to be honest! Being totally under exam conditions with the information swirling around in my head (and I will admit sweaty hands), it took me back to my school days! I needn’t have worried though – I passed my first exam with flying colours.
I have to say this is probably one of the best things I have done in a long time. It has allowed me to re-focus on what’s important and have a bigger voice within the business about our marketing and has given me more confidence when speaking to clients about theirs.
I think if anyone is considering some upskilling and/or re-training, go for it! Even if you only learn one thing and have brushed up on your other skills, it is worth it. The biggest thing additional learning does is give you the confidence in what you are doing and how you are going about it. Both Envious Digital and myself are winning from my learning!
